CARNEGIE MELLON RACING
AUTONOMOUS
CMR AUTONOMOUS
We are Carnegie Mellon Racing Autonomous. Our team currently consists of over 40 members coming from a wide range of disciplines. We have successfully completed our first project, the Donkey Car, and are working to take part in three competitions. Our next goal is to complete a 1:5 scale car in Spring 2022.
THE DONKEY CAR
Following the launch of the Carnegie Mellon Racing Autonomous team in Fall 2021, we started work on a "Donkey Car." The car runs on a trained model that allow it to successfully navigate through curves on our test track.
OUR ROADMAP
We are outfitting our existing Formula Student Race Car with the necessary equipment to participate in a fully autonomous race. Currently, our team is designing the DV system which interfaces with brakes, acceleration, and steering. We are also updating the firmware to work with new sensors (LiDAR, camera, etc.).
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Formula SAE is a series of international collegiate competitions organized and run by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Student teams must engineer and build a prototype race vehicle to showcase its performance and design to technical experts in order to win a fictional contract.
